Implementing the Chobe and NRW losses reduction

Supply options can be implemented together with demand managment options to increase system resilience. In this exercise the Chobe-Zambezi transfer will be activated together with NRW loss reduction to 20%.
Clone the Chobe scenario creating a new scenario called "Chobe+NRW 20%".
Click on the Parameters tab
Search for the word NRW
Change the Gaborone DC NRW factor to 1.25 as follows:
and click on .
Do this for the Mochudi DC NRW and Romotswa DC NRW parameters.
Run this scenario and compare the simulated_volume in the Gaborone reservoir in this scenario and the Chobe and NRW 20% scenarios.
The Chobe transfer when combined with NRW loss reductions to 20% results in eliminating deficits in Gaborone (green scenario). Demand in Gaborone is lower when NRW reductions are implemented because less water is required to put into the distribution system due to the lower losses.
